Half Term Trips
Our students made the most of the half-term break with some exciting trips that took them from historical landmarks and cultural immersion to athletic challenges abroad.
Years 10 and 11 went on a joint History and German trip to Berlin, where they visited significant historical sites like Hohenschönhausen and Sachsenhausen, engaging with powerful moments in history. Cultural highlights included a visit to the iconic Fernsehturm, and perhaps the pinnacle of the trip was watching the sunset from the roof of the Reichstag building.
Our Sixth Form Art and DT students spent an inspiring few days in Copenhagen, exploring a blend of historical and modern art and design. At the Ordrupgaard Museum, they viewed Into the Woods by Flora Yukhnovich, and Ai Weiwei’s Water Lilies, made from LEGO. They also visited the Danish Architecture Centre and the Copenhagen Contemporary Gallery, where students enjoyed Marta Minujín’s interactive installations, including a room made of mattresses and a maze designed to evoke different emotions.
Meanwhile, in Italy, some of our students explored the rich history of Rome. They began with a hands-on session at Gladiator School, learning about life as a Roman fighter. Visits to the Roman Forum and Hadrian’s Villa offered a closer look at ancient Roman history, while also allowing them to enjoy the beautiful Italian countryside.
Finally, our hockey players travelled to the Netherlands for a week of friendly matches and training, giving students a chance to improve their skills, experience Dutch culture, and perhaps even pick up a few new phrases.
Each trip offered something unique, whether through historical sites, creative exhibitions, or team sports. We’re delighted to see our students return with new perspectives, knowledge, and experiences that bring their subjects to life.
