Year 6 Explore Sculpture in Art Transition Lesson
Yesterday, our Year 6 pupils took part in an exciting Art transition lesson at the Senior School with Miss Heraghty. This session introduced them to the work of African artist Yinka Shonibare, known for his striking sculptures that capture movement and form.
Inspired by Shonibare’s use of fabric in his art, our pupils experimented with clay and underglaze to create their own abstract sculptures, representing fabric billowing in the wind. This hands-on experience allowed them to develop their artistic skills while exploring new techniques and materials.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our Year 6 pupils to get a taste of Art in the Senior School, and we look forward to seeing their creativity continue to grow.
