Year 3 Explore the Art of Alick Tipoti in Transition Lesson

Our Year 3 pupils had an exciting opportunity to explore the work of Alick Tipoti, an Australian artist from the Torres Strait Islands known for his striking linocuts, prints, and mask-making.

Guided by Senior School art teacher, Miss Katie Duke, the pupils learned about Tipoti’s unique style, which draws on the traditional cultural practices of his people. They then put their learning into practice by experimenting with layering and poly printing using three colours to create their own Tipoti-inspired prints.

This transition lesson also built on their current art studies, where they have been exploring Australian pointillism. A fantastic hands-on session that encouraged creativity while broadening their artistic knowledge!
