Lunar New Year Celebrations at Eltham College

This week at our Senior School, we have been celebrating Lunar New Year with a variety of activities designed to give our students a deeper understanding of Chinese traditions and culture. From hands-on experiences to creative performances, they had the opportunity to take part in a range of events marking the Year of the Snake. Throughout the week, students have:
  1. Tried their hand at Bubble Tea making and tasting, exploring the flavours and technique behind this popular drink.
  2. Taken to the stage for the Chinese Music Talent Show, sharing musical performances inspired by Chinese culture.
  3. Learned about the significance of the Chinese Lantern Festival, discovering the traditions that mark the end of Lunar New Year celebrations.
  4. Showcased their culinary skills in our Show and Tell activity, where they cooked Chinese dishes at home and shared the process and final creations with classmates through photos and videos.
  5. Taken part in the Chinese Poem Recital Competition, demonstrating their language skills and appreciation for Chinese literature.
It has been a week of cultural exchange, creativity, and learning, and a wonderful way to celebrate the New Year. A special thank you to Ms Su for organising the activities, and to all the students who took part and made this year’s celebrations so special.
