Lunar New Year Celebrations at Eltham College
This week at our Senior School, we have been celebrating Lunar New Year with a variety of activities designed to give our students a deeper understanding of Chinese traditions and culture. From hands-on experiences to creative performances, they had the opportunity to take part in a range of events marking the Year of the Snake. Throughout the week, students have:
-
Tried their hand at Bubble Tea making and tasting, exploring the flavours and technique behind this popular drink.
-
Taken to the stage for the Chinese Music Talent Show, sharing musical performances inspired by Chinese culture.
-
Learned about the significance of the Chinese Lantern Festival, discovering the traditions that mark the end of Lunar New Year celebrations.
-
Showcased their culinary skills in our Show and Tell activity, where they cooked Chinese dishes at home and shared the process and final creations with classmates through photos and videos.
-
Taken part in the Chinese Poem Recital Competition, demonstrating their language skills and appreciation for Chinese literature.
It has been a week of cultural exchange, creativity, and learning, and a wonderful way to celebrate the New Year. A special thank you to Ms Su for organising the activities, and to all the students who took part and made this year’s celebrations so special.
