Year 12 Geography Trip
Our Year 12 geographers recently spent a weekend in Bristol and Tewkesbury, gaining first-hand insights into urban regeneration and flood risk management.
In Bristol, they explored the Harbourside, looking at how regeneration has shaped the area and its impact on the local community. The day ended with a private sunset boat tour, offering a different perspective on the city’s development from its historic docks to a modern urban centre. The next day in Tewkesbury, our students had the opportunity to meet with locals and discuss what it’s like to live in a flood risk area. Through thoughtful conversations, they gained a deeper understanding of emergency planning and how communities adapt to environmental challenges. With pre-prepared questions, they were able to engage in a meaningful discussion and reflect on the realities of living in vulnerable locations.
The trip also included time to socialise, with our students enjoying a mix of Italian dinners and an all-you-can-eat buffet where there were plenty of return trips for sushi, ribs, noodles, and ice cream. The weekend wrapped up with team games at the hostel before heading back.
This has been a great opportunity for our geography students to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences, deepening their understanding of key geographical themes in an applied setting.
