Eltham College Celebrates International Women’s Day
On 5th March, we marked International Women’s Day with an exciting and interactive trail across the senior school. Eight Sixth Form students took on the roles of inspiring women from history, including Florence Nightingale, Marie Curie, Amelia Earhart, Edith Cavell, Grace O’Malley, Mary Anning, Mary Shelley and Eleanor Roosevelt.
Students raced around the school, searching for these historical figures and asking them questions to uncover their identities. The challenge not only brought laughter and energy to the day but also encouraged our students to learn more about these remarkable women and their achievements.
We also welcomed author Amelie Skoda who gave a talk about her experiences of writing her debut novel, all about the experiences of nurses from Malaysia travelling to the UK to join the NHS. As well as finding out more about her life and inspiration, Amelie also shared a reading from her novel “Bethnal Green” and answered questions from students.
A fantastic way to celebrate International Women’s Day, combining history, curiosity, and a bit of friendly competition!
