Jazz Night
On 1st March, Eltham College’s much-anticipated Jazz Night returned, bringing an unforgettable evening of live music to the school grounds as the ABT was converted into our very own jazz club, with round table seating and full sound & lighting. One of the highlights of the Music Department’s calendar, the event showcased the incredible depth of jazz talent at the school, with no fewer than nine ensembles taking to the stage.
From the powerful sound of Big Band to the intricate improvisations of the Jazz Combo, the evening celebrated jazz in all its forms. Alongside long-standing favourites like Sax Quartet, Dixieland Band, and Cool Jazz, the audience was treated to performances from two student-led groups: Just the Four of Us and the Quaggy Quartet. A special moment came with the return of The Alice Jinks Quintet, following their debut performance last year, and ahead of their album release later this year.
The night also marked a growing presence of vocalists in jazz, with performances from Voce and several solo singers adding a fresh dynamic to the concert. With an audience filled with parents, students, and staff, the evening was a true testament to the passion and dedication of our young musicians.
