World Book Day at the Junior School

On Thursday 6th March our pupils celebrated their love of books on World Book Day. The school buzzed with pupils and teachers dressing up as their beloved book characters. Oompa-Loompas marched through the corridors, Wallys hid in plain sight, Sherlock Holmes was on the case, and Harry Potter brought a touch of magic.

In KGH, Year 6 Art lunchclub pupils created a bright and colourful art display inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Their artwork brought the pages of the classic book to life, making it a wonderful addition to the celebrations. Meanwhile, Year 3 pupils put their French skills to the test, creating their own picture books about Les Couleurs to help younger pupils learn about colours in a fun and interactive way.

The celebrations didn’t stop there though. Author and school archivist Andrew Beattie visited, signing books and chatting with pupils about what it’s like to be a writer. Year 6 also had the exciting opportunity to join a live Zoom talk with author Emma Carroll, whose book they are currently reading in class.

With amazing costumes and inspiring author visits, World Book day was fantastic celebration of storytelling, imagination, and the joy of reading.
