Eltham College Pupil Wins Esteemed Popper Prize Essay Competition

We are delighted to share that Robert from Year 10 has been awarded first place in the distinguished Popper Prize Essay competition, hosted by Dulwich College. The Popper Prize is a well-regarded inter-school competition for Year 10 pupils.  This year, entrants were challenged to produce a 1500-word essay with the theme of Ethics and AI.

Robert’s thoughtful and incisive essay was titled: The greater the freedom of a machine the more it will need moral standards. His work stood out among entries from 22 schools and was selected as the winning essay by Dr Caroline Green of the Institute for Ethics in AI at Oxford. Dr Green praised Robert’s clarity of argument and depth of insight on a topic of growing global importance.

Robert’s success in this national competition is a testament to his intellectual curiosity and commitment to academic excellence. Congratulations Robert!
