Eighteen Lower Sixth students took on their Gold DofE practice expedition during the Easter break.
From Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 March, the group camped and hiked through the beautiful countryside around Merthyr Tydfil in Wales.
The weather stayed mostly mild, but the students faced cold spells at higher altitudes and battled some serious gusts on Saturday night. Despite the conditions, they coped with resilience and kept spirits high throughout the expedition.
Assessors were particularly impressed by the students’ navigation skills, teamwork and determination. They praised the resilient attitude shown by all three teams across the four days.
After a successful practice, the group are now fully prepared for their Qualifying Expedition, which will take place in the Lake District this July.
Well done to all students for showing such commitment, positivity and strength.
