Year 6 Design Their Own Cars During an F1 in Schools STEM Day

This past week, Year 6 students took part in an ‘F1 in Schools’ STEM day. First learning about the evolution of F1 car design and the importance of aerodynamics, pupils designed their own cars, in House teams. Chassis made from card, some were built for speed while others focused on aesthetic design – liveries and branding in Formula 1 providing inspiration for Year 6’s creations.

Cars built and embellished, the race was on! A compressed air launch system sent the vehicles speeding over a 10m track as our House teams aimed for the finish line. In the end, Moffat emerged victorious with the fastest car in all three forms!

Congrats to Moffat on their racing win and to all the teams for their excellent technical and creative designs!
