Pathways Programme Launches with Maths and Art-Filled First Day
On Saturday 17 May 2025, the Pathways Programme held its first session. Designed to help create pathways for young people and their families to access educational environments where they can thrive, the programme offers tailored support for children preparing for 11+ entrance exams and guidance for families navigating bursary applications to independent and grammar schools.
The day began with small-group maths sessions, giving students focused support to build skills and confidence. Later, the whole group came together for an exciting art workshop inspired by the Alaria exhibition at the Gerald Moore Gallery.
After a gallery tour including discussion about textures and processes used by the exhibiting artist, students created their own cyanotype prints, quickly arranging found objects on light-sensitive paper and using the sun to develop their designs. The fast-paced, hands-on process was both fun and creatively engaging, and we send thanks to all our staff volunteers who gave so generously of their time.
This first session set a positive tone for the Pathways Programme — building academic tools, inspiring creativity, and helping students succeed, regardless of background.
