Year 10 Geographers Hone Their Fieldwork Skills
The Year 10 geographers have been developing their fieldwork skills in preparation for their visits to the River Darent and Lewisham town centre later this term. We introduced the IGCSE fieldwork component and then headed out to utilise our wonderful school grounds. The students completed field sketches of the River Quaggy, which flows alongside our car park; they piloted random sampling, tried out their own bipolar surveys for environmental quality, and learned how to use ranging poles and clinometers to measure the gradient in the playing fields. The sun was shining, and we look forward to taking them out in a few weeks’ time to apply their skills to their fieldwork investigation!
