Year 5 Explore Surrealism with Artist Alison Kusner
Our Year 5 pupils have been taking part in art workshops led by artist Alison Kusner, with whom the ECJS have worked with for many years. Two of the three Year 5 classes participated last week, engaging in creative sessions inspired by surrealism and the works of Salvador Dali.
Using charcoal and drawing inks on white foam boards, students created dreamlike artwork drawn from both still life arrangements and Dali’s surreal imagery. The results were imaginative, bold, and expressive.
Last Friday, 5ND had their turn in the workshop. Focusing on collage and montage techniques, they combined paint and ink on black foam boards, also incorporating sand and stencils. The finished works were engaging, surreal landscapes full of visual and physical texture.
