Track and Field Excellence at ESAA Cup and London Schools
Following on from an excellent first half of term, the Eltham College athletics squad secured Regional Final places at the ESAA Track & Field Cup for all four teams—Junior Boys, Junior Girls, Intermediate Boys and Intermediate Girls—for the first time in our history. Sutcliffe Park was once again doused in the June sunshine as 54 athletes competed across 108 events in the track and field against 23 schools from London and Middlesex, with Eltham College being one of two schools with all four teams in the final.
Outstanding individual performances saw Alex (Yr 10) win the 200m, Daniel (Yr 10) and Luke (Yr 9 ) both win the 1500m, Joe (Yr 10) and James (Yr 8) win the 300m, Leo (Yr 8) win the Javelin, India (Yr 10) win the Discus, Matt (Yr 10) and Dara (Yr 9) win the 800m, Beulah (Yr 8) win the 100m and, in an unprecedented performance, all four 4 x 100m relay teams win their event.
Final standings in the Track and Field Regional Final:
Junior Girls: 3rd
Junior Boys: 5th
Intermediate Girls: 8th
Intermediate Boys: 5th
Following on from this success, Emily (Yr 11), Daniel (Yr 10), Monty (Yr 9), Hayden (Yr 9), Oscar (Yr 7), Odette (Yr 7), Rafael (Yr 7), Toby (Yr 8), Leo (Yr 8), Dylan (Yr 8) and Rupert (Yr 7) were all selected for London Schools, from which Emily has been selected for English Schools with a time of 24.5 in the 200m.
