Year 10 Geographers Head to Lewisham for Their Urban Fieldwork
On 24th June our wonderful Year 10 Geographers visited Lewisham town centre to investigate the sustainability of the Lewisham Gateway redevelopment. Keeping with the theme of sustainability, we made use of our local station in Mottingham for the short train ride to Lewisham, using TfL’s school travel card. Working in small groups, the four Geography classes circulated between four key sites around the regenerated area to collect a range of data, including environmental quality surveys and questionnaires with members of the public.
Despite some surprisingly gusty winds, the weather stayed dry, and students kept up their enthusiasm throughout the morning. They had a well-earned stop for donuts, hot chocolates, and various other snacks before heading back to school for some evaluative work.
Well done to all the students for their engagement, teamwork, and thoughtful data collection during this important investigation into sustainable urban redevelopment, and thank you to the staff who came with the Geography Department.
