Eltham College Hosted Schools from Across London for the ABC Book Club Festival
This past Wednesday, Eltham College had the incredible honour of hosting the ABC Book Club Festival for the second year in a row.
The event brought together around 85 children from various primary schools across London for a day of games, workshops, and reading-related activities. These included interactive sessions on writing and illustrating, student-led games, a book-themed quiz, and a lively question-and-answer session with Tom Mitchell, a celebrated children’s author and teacher at Eltham College.
Mr Mitchell also presented his new book about space to the young pupils, and when teachers surveyed them afterwards, it was clear that spirits were high and everyone had thoroughly enjoyed the sunny, activity-filled afternoon on the field in front of our Senior School.
A mixed soundtrack of classic and contemporary pop tunes played throughout the event, adding to the joyful energy as the children partook in the many exercises.
The event was thoughtfully planned and supported by Year 9 and 10 students, who had been preparing it for the past six months as part of their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) volunteering.
