Kent Fencing Championships 2025
For the second year running, the Kent Competition was hosted at the Eric Liddell Centre by Eltham College – the most important event in the fencing calendar after the Public Schools Competition. This year, the College proudly boasted nine medals.
In the U10 category, we saw great performances from the boys, with the final fought by two Eltham fencers: Tsz Fan (Year 4) in 1st place and Dhruv (Year 4) in 2nd. It was Tsz Fan’s first competition, and only the second for Dhruv.
In the U10 girls’ category, Sophie (Year 5) came 5th, Connie (Year 3) 6th, and Annie (Year 3) 7th – all still in the beginner’s class in Junior School – and they have made huge progress in reaching competition level.
For the U12 boys, Sasha (Year 6) claimed 3rd place after a strong performance. He will join the Senior School next year, where he will be a valuable member of the fencing squad. Henry (Year 6) came 6th, and Zhirui (Year 5) was 9th.
The U12 girls’ category was dominated by Eltham fencers, with Harriet (Year 7) in 1st place, Alisa (Year 6) in 2nd, and Zara (Year 7) in 3rd. Livia (Year 5) also fenced well, finishing 8th in her first competition.
In the U14 boys’ category, Zayd (Year 9) came 2nd, Ali (Year 9) 3rd, and Hunter (Year 9) 5th. Hunter met Zayd in the semi-finals, and after an exciting match, Zayd came out on top.
In the U14 girls’ event, Vivienne (Year 9) secured 3rd place, while Polina (Year 9) finished 7th.
The future is very bright for Eltham College Fencing, and we look forward to an excellent showing in all competitions next year – especially the Public Schools Fencing Championships in March.
