The Listening Space at Eltham College Junior School
Eltham College Junior School is excited to announce the launch of The Listening Space, an in-house pastoral support service. This initiative ensures that every pupil has access to a safe and supportive environment where they can explore personal or emotional concerns outside of the classroom.
The Listening Space is led by trained members of staff who use a combination of talking therapy and play therapy techniques. By tailoring approaches to suit the individual, the service provides pupils with a compassionate space to reflect, express themselves, and seek guidance when needed.
Support is offered through three strands:
- One-to-one sessions for ongoing, individual support
- Ad-hoc sessions for pupils who may need immediate but short-term guidance
- Group sessions for shared experiences and collective pastoral growth
Referrals can be made by form tutors, the wider pastoral team, or through pupil self-referral, ensuring that every child feels able to access support when they need it.
The overarching goal of The Listening Space is simple yet powerful: for every pupil to feel heard, valued, and supported throughout their journey in the Junior School.
