2025 Lower School House Chess

The recent House Chess competition proved to be one of the most closely contested in recent memory, showcasing not only strategic thinking and composure under pressure, but also the spirit of rivalry that defines the house competition.

Students from all four houses took part in a series of matches, each one contributing to the overall standings. The final rounds were particularly tense, with the outcome hanging in the balance until the very last moments. In a dramatic finish, Yueci (Year 7) secured a crucial win with just 30 seconds remaining on her clock.

In the closing stages, Carey House needed victories in both of the final two matches to claim victory, but ultimately it was Moffatt who came out on top.

The final standings were:

  • 1st – Moffatt (14 points)
  • 2nd – Carey (12 points)
  • 3rd – Chalmers and Livingstone (11 points each)

The narrow margins between the teams made for an exciting event from start to finish. Congratulations to all who took part and especially to Moffatt House for emerging victorious.
