A Night at the Theatre: Students Take in Stone’s The Lady from the Sea
On Monday evening, the A Level Drama classes and some additional members of Sixth Form went to see The Lady from the Sea, written and directed by Simon Stone, at the Bridge Theatre. Having studied his production of Yerma for the Live Theatre Evaluation section of the A Level course, the pupils found it fascinating to see his new, thrilling dissection of desire, loss and rebirth for the contemporary age; even featuring some of the same actors from Yerma whose performances some pupils had been analysing that very morning! We were all totally gripped by the performances from Alicia Vikander and Andrew Lincoln, and the astonishing cast of supporting actors. One of the pupils was overheard saying it was the best show they had ever seen – a glowing review for a 2 hour and 45-minute play!
