Celebrating Female Composers at Sinfonia Smith Square

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our sold-out concert at Sinfonia Smith Square, one of London’s leading concert locations. Involving four of our choirs and four of our large instrumental ensembles, including the Eltham College Symphony Orchestra, in total the concert saw 176 pupils take part – an amazing 24% of the entire school!

The programme was comprised entirely of music written by female composers, including Ethel Smyth, Lili Boulanger and Sally Beamish. Libby Croad’s ‘Suite for String Orchestra’, which had been specially arranged for this performance, was a particular highlight, while Jocelyn Gould’s ‘Look at the Stars’, performed by our Symphony Orchestra together with 90 singers, brought the concert to a breath-taking close.

If you couldn’t attend, don’t worry! The concert was professionally filmed and recorded, and we’ll be sharing the videos of this incredible celebration of music in January.
