Exhibition Georgia O’Keeffe: Memories of Drawings Opens at Gerald Moore Gallery
The Gerald Moore Gallery is delighted to present Georgia O’Keeffe: Memories of Drawings, recently recommended by The Guardian. Open to the public every Saturday from 17 January to 14 February, this exhibition forms part of the Hayward Gallery Touring programme and brings the work of one of the most influential figures in American Modernism to our space.
Showcasing 21 photogravures of drawings created between 1915 and 1963, the collection reflects the formative years in which O’Keeffe established her revolutionary artistic voice. Known for her bold interpretations of nature, magnified flowers, towering New York skyscrapers, and the stark desert landscapes of New Mexico, O’Keeffe’s work continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
Although celebrated primarily as a painter, drawing was central to O’Keeffe’s practice, and this exhibition offers a rare opportunity to explore this aspect of her artistry.
Alongside, our Gallery Assistant Sara Dobbs is presenting her own solo exhibition Underfoot featuring a new series of textile pieces and paintings.
Join us for a hands-on workshop on Saturday 31 January, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm, where participants will explore the expressive art of ink painting. Inspired by O’Keeffe’s iconic drawings on display, this session will encourage experimentation with mark-making and dynamic techniques. Perfect for anyone looking to unleash their creativity in a relaxed, inspiring environment.
