Eltham College Debating Society Reach East London Final
Congratulations to the Senior School Debating Society, who have reached the East London Final of the English Speaking Union’s MACE Debating Competition! They debated brilliantly in a highly competitive round on the motion This House Believes that climate protests which disrupt daily life are morally justified, with St Olave’s Grammar School as the opposition.
The judges were particularly impressed by the Eltham College pupils’ excellent teamwork, cohesion, strong internal referencing, and clear shared strategy. Both Eltham College and St Olave’s Grammar School will be progressing to the next round.
Other debates in the round included This House Believes that modern politics does not represent the interests of young people, contested by Bromley High School (Proposition) and Blackheath High School (Opposition).
