Drama Students Discover the Power of Movement
Year 10 and Year 12 Drama students took part in an engaging and inspiring workshop led by Felipe Pacheco, an actor and movement artist currently performing in The Hunger Games: On Stage.
The day began with practical movement work, as students learned how to perform lifts safely and effectively. From there, they collaborated to build a piece of choreography, starting with just three simple movements and gradually expanding and refining the sequence. This process highlighted the value of experimentation and creative risk-taking. As Mr Marshall noted, “It is not the artist’s job to make something good, but to not fear making something bad.”
The workshop offered students a valuable introduction to movement artistry, giving them the opportunity to work collaboratively, explore new creative techniques, and gain confidence in their acting and storytelling.
