Music Scholars Take the Stage in Madrid for Madam Butterfly
Music Scholars Evie (Year 10), Phoebe (Year 11), and Yangfei (Year 10) enjoyed an unforgettable music trip to Madrid last week.
The visit began on Friday with the group attending a concert at the prestigious National Auditorium of Music, a venue renowned for hosting many of Spain’s leading orchestral performances.
Saturday started with sightseeing around Madrid’s historic centre before the students headed to the Teatro Real for an afternoon rehearsal with professional musicians.
The highlight of the weekend came that evening, when our scholars joined the pit orchestra for a production of Puccini’s iconic opera Madam Butterfly. Performing in a live opera setting is an extraordinary experience for any young musician, and all three rose to the challenge brilliantly.
As Mr Johns said, “Not a bad way to escape England’s February drizzle for a few days!”
