Celebrating the Year of the Fire Horse at the Junior School
Our Junior School was filled with energy as pupils came together to celebrate Lunar New Year and welcome the Year of the Fire Horse. Students were invited to wear festive clothing from their own cultures or don red or yellow tops alongside their school trousers.
The celebrations began with a whole school assembly, where pupils joined in New Year songs, instrumental performances, a retelling of the Great Race story in rap form and interactive quizzes. Although, for many pupils, the highlight was when a group of visiting teachers from South Bank University took to the stage with a powerful martial arts demonstration, a lively lion dance and musical performances.
Following the assembly, students participated in immersive cultural and language workshops designed to deepen their understanding of Chinese heritage. They explored traditional Chinese dance, calligraphy, Chinese painting, martial arts and Chinese instruments.
新年快乐 (Xīnnián kuàilè) – Happy New Year!
