Welcoming the Year of the Fire Horse: Senior School Lunar New Year Celebrations

This week, our Senior School has been celebrating Lunar New Year with a vibrant programme of activities to welcome the Year of the Fire Horse. These events have given students a brilliant opportunity to deepen their understanding of Chinese traditions and culture through hands-on experiences and creative performances.

The week began with Year 10 students making, and tasting, their own bubble tea. They learned how to prepare the drink from scratch, experimented with different flavours and, of course, enjoyed sampling their creations.

On Tuesday, Year 8 showcased their culinary talents in a “show and tell” presentation. Having cooked a Chinese dish at home, they shared their recipes, techniques and final results with the class.

Wednesday saw Year 9 present their research on the Terracotta Warriors, exploring their discovery, historical significance and the important role of horses within the ancient army.

On Thursday, Year 7 took part in the Chinese Poem Recital Competition.

A special thank you to Ms Su for organising such an engaging programme, and to all the students whose enthusiasm and creativity made this year’s Lunar New Year celebrations so memorable.
