National and County Titles for Eltham College Teams
It has been another excellent week for sport at Eltham College. Following on from last week’s achievement by our Under 16 rugby 7s team, who were crowned Kent Rugby 7s Champions, two more squads added to the momentum with standout performances.
Our Under 15 boys’ water polo team secured Eltham’s first-ever national title in the sport, becoming ESSA U15 National Water Polo Plate Champions over the weekend. The team delivered a strong final, overturning a 1–3 deficit with just over three minutes remaining. Mr Bungane, who has played a key role in developing water polo at the College, said:
“Congratulations to the team. They have worked tremendously hard to get to this point. To win a final against a team that they lost to in the group phase and 1–3 down with 3:20 left on the clock in the final shows their resilience and character to keep going till the last whistle.”
Congratulations also to our Under 12 boys’ hockey team, who were crowned London Tier 1 Champions. They won all six of their matches, scoring 17 goals and conceding only 3, competing against some of the strongest schools in the region. The team also recently won the Stickwise League, rounding off an impressive run of performances. Thank you to Mr Halls for his leadership and coaching throughout the season.
Well done to all teams involved for another highly successful week of sport at Eltham College.
