Eltham College Students Excel in Junior Maths Challenge
This May, 231 Year 7 and Year 8 students took part in the Junior Maths Challenge, a national competition designed to stretch and inspire young mathematicians.
We are delighted to celebrate another year of excellent results. Two senior school students achieved scores of 114 or above, qualifying for the Junior Mathematical Olympiad, which recognises the highest performers nationwide. A further 47 Eltham students qualified for the Junior Kangaroo, awarded to the next tier of top scorers.
Overall, Eltham pupils performed exceptionally strongly: 66 Gold, 66 Silver and 55 Bronze certificates were awarded. Around 80% of our students received a medal, significantly above the national average of 50%. Notably, approximately 28% of our participants achieved Gold, compared to around 8% nationally.
Congratulations to all students who took part in this year’s challenge.
