Students Collaborate on Ambitious City Sculptures for House Art Competition
Students from across all year groups came together for the House Art Competition, tasked with creating a collaborative city sculpture using only cardboard and paint. Each House was led by two Lower Sixth students, with contributions required from every year group.
Teams designed and built large-scale structures, at least one metre tall and no wider than 70cm.
Finished sculptures were assessed on build quality, refined decoration and the level of participation across year groups.
The sculptures were judged by Gallery Manager Haf Anuar, whose comments are shared below:
1st Place – Livingstone
An innovative design incorporating a striking dragon motif within an organically formed cluster of buildings. The tall tower with its fabric flag created a strong focal point.
2nd Place – Chalmers
A tall, pagoda-like structure with effective use of height and supporting columns, enhanced by decorative details such as origami flowers and lights.
3rd Place – Moffat
A well-proportioned design featuring a dramatic central column supporting smaller houses, with diagonal string elements adding tension and movement.
4th Place – Carey
A well-constructed piece with detailed figures and house façades, though the overall form was less clearly defined.
Congratulations to Livingstone on their victory!
