A Week’s Celebration of Language Learning

Our annual Language Week celebration filled the College with colour as a packed programme explored the cultures, experiences and opportunities that language learning can bring.

Among the highlights were a Chinese concert and workshop, a Languages themed University Challenge for Years 7 to 10, and a guest talk by Dr Rebecca Mitchell from the University of Cambridge, who explored how language skills can support future study and careers. Much fun was had as students took part in a lively salsa workshop, while the Model Cities competition showcased incredible designs and skill in the replicas pupils had made of famous landmarks from around the world.

Staff took to the stage to round off the week with our ever-popular International Karaoke: Staff Special Edition, which provided a joyful and fitting end to the week which gave our community the chance to engage with different cultures, practise their skills and discover new aspects of language learning beyond the classroom.

Thank you to everyone who organised and took part in the week’s events.

We hope you enjoy this short video showcasing some of the highlights from the week.
