Sixth Form Student Inspires Maths Extension Club
Lower School students explored one of mathematics’ most fascinating ideas when Emilio (Lower Sixth), delivered a talk to the Maths Extension Club on the concept of infinity.
Using Hilbert’s Paradox of the Grand Hotel, Emilio explained how some infinities can be larger than others, engaging Year 7 and Year 8 students with a thought-provoking introduction to advanced mathematical thinking. His enthusiasm for the subject prompted a wide range of questions from the audience, which he answered with confidence and clarity.
The session provided an excellent opportunity for younger students to learn from a Sixth Form mathematician while exploring ideas beyond the classroom curriculum. We look forward to more Sixth Form students sharing their knowledge and inspiring the next generation of mathematicians in the future.
