Year 7 Chart Toppers 2026
All 137 Year 7 pupils took part in their first musical performance as members of the Senior School in this year’s Chart Toppers concert.
The concert celebrated hits from the 1990s, with each tutor group performing songs they had been preparing in music lessons since the start of term. The Year 7 singers were accompanied by a live band made up of GCSE and A Level musicians. Among the songs performed was Take That’s Never Forget, while Jamiroquai’s Virtual Insanity earned a place in the programme after the revelation that funk is one of Director of Music Mr Johns’ favourite genres.
Mr Johns said “This concert is a great example of the range of musical opportunities available at Eltham. Music can be pursued at a serious and high level, but there are also plenty of opportunities for pupils who simply want to engage with music for enjoyment and to perform with others.”
The evening concluded in everyone joining in a rendition of Happy Birthday for Year 7 pupil Jay.
