Upper Sixth Physics Trip to Geneva
Our Upper Sixth Physics trip to Geneva was an exciting and enriching opportunity, combining science, culture and fun. On the first day, we visited the United Nations before enjoying dinner at a traditional Genevan brasserie. In the evening, Mr Evans led a Physics quiz and provided a crash course on particle accelerators to prepare us for our visit to CERN.
The second day was packed with scientific discovery at CERN. We took part in a cloud chamber workshop, explored the Gateway Science Centre and enjoyed lunch at the Big Bang Café. We also attended a fascinating theoretical physics lecture delivered by a member of CERN’s Theory Department and toured the LINAC and Antimatter Factory, gaining first-hand insight into cutting-edge research. The day concluded with a friendly ten-pin bowling competition.
On our final day, we visited the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum, learning about its humanitarian work around the world. We then explored Geneva’s historic Old Town through a treasure hunt before heading to the airport for our flight home.
The trip provided a unique opportunity to deepen our understanding of modern physics while experiencing the culture and history of Geneva, creating lasting memories for everyone involved.
