Tradition and Transformation: Sixth Form Theatre Experience
A combined Sixth Form Drama and Classics trip to the National Theatre offered students the opportunity to experience a contemporary reimagining of Euripides’ The Bacchae. This kinetic and confronting inaugural production by the National’s new Artistic Director proved to be a thoroughly enriching cross-curricular experience, prompting both academic and practical reflection among students and staff. They explored the interpretive process of transforming a text from page to stage and debated how best to balance respect for tradition with the embrace of new ideas.
