Exploring the Nervous System Through Squid Dissection
Our Year 13 Biologists took a deep dive into the nervous system with a hands-on squid dissection. Squid are ideal for this study; their nerves are easy to locate, and they boast one of the largest single cells in the animal kingdom: the giant axon running along the mantle.
Students explored squid anatomy in detail, uncovering fascinating facts about this remarkable creature. Some even managed to extract the giant axon, a true highlight of the session.
To top it off, they used the squid’s pen and ink to write their names.
