Geographical Association World Wise Quiz Hosted at Eltham
This week, Eltham’s Geography Department proudly hosted a regional Geographical Association World Wise Quiz for the second year running. Delivered online, the quiz is inclusive, enabling teams from a wide range of schools across South and East London to take part. This year, the competition went truly international, welcoming participants from as far afield as the Netherlands.
In total, an impressive 79 teams competed, representing 18 schools and involving 230 students from Years 7 to 10. Congratulations go to Solihull School and Langley Park School for Boys, who were joint winners, and to our own Year 10 team, Ridhi and Alex, who achieved an excellent second place in their category.
Alice Mollison, Head of Geography, commented:
“I have been running this quiz for four years and was delighted to see such a diverse range of schools taking part this year. The top teams achieved scores of up to 85%, demonstrating outstanding knowledge of current geographical news, strong visual skills using satellite imagery, and impressive mastery of classic quiz topics such as flags and capitals. It’s wonderful that so many schools, and our own Eltham geographers, are already asking if the quiz will return next year!”
A huge well done and thank you to all the students and teachers who took part and helped make the event such a success.
