Year 6 Drama Presents: Our Teacher is a Troll

This week, Year 6 have been showcasing their incredible Drama talents performing in Dennis Kelly’s Our Teacher is a Troll. The production was a culmination of four years of progress in Drama for the students, and the extent to which they had mastered performance skills during their time at the Junior School was clear to see.

So, we asked, what was it like to rehearse and perform in this production?

Hazel (6AW): “During the production, I learned that you have to react a lot in drama, even when you are not speaking. Your body language and facial expressions help tell the story, especially.”

Aveek (6EB): “It was absolutely a challenge to learn my lines and keep in character while on stage—Narrator or Miner, it was vital to look like a part of the play at all times.”

Tanya (6DT): “My favourite part of the play is when Holly and Sean are looking up into the big yellow eyes of the troll, and they are trapped in its gnarly claws. I like this because you can feel the emotion and the fear they are feeling.”

All of Year 6 rose to the challenge of this complex play, and they should be extremely proud of their final achievements in Drama at the Junior School.
