Team Solitaire Wins JBA Trust Special Award at ICE CityZen Competition

A team of Eltham College students has been awarded the JBA Trust Special Prize at the 2025 Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) CityZen competition.

Known as Team Solitaire, James, May, Samayra and Sofia (Lower Sixth) were recognised for their design of an enhanced urban park space in Southwark. Their proposal focused on increasing biodiversity while delivering clear benefits for the local community.

The JBA Trust Special Award is presented for the most creative and practical approach to supporting nature and the environment. Alongside the award, the team received a £500 prize, shared between the students and the College.

The ICE CityZen competition is aimed at students aged 16–18 and is designed to give participants an insight into civil engineering through realworld challenges. Team Solitaire’s submission was selected by a panel of expert judges from entries submitted nationwide.

Congratulations to all members of Team Solitaire on an excellent achievement.
