 Excellent Showing at the Cambridge Cup

In the Cambridge Cup, Year 9 got off to a flyer, with both boys’ and girls’ teams finishing 3rd in the district. Fifteen students found their way to the podium throughout the afternoon, with notable first place finishes from Luke (1500m), Monty (800m), Hayden (Javelin) and Dara (800m).  

Year 8 performed with similar success, with 15 students also making it to the podium. The boys finished 5th, just four points off 2nd place and ten from 1st in a tightly contested event involving ten other schools. The girls secured 2nd place working outstandingly well as a team, with 1st place finishes from Alex (Hurdles), Beulah (100m), Toby and Johnny (800m), Dylan (Long Jump), Penninah (200m), and Izzy (300m).

Year 7 managed to go one better with their outstanding team performance. The boys were superb, finishing 2nd by just two points, while the girls stole the show winning the district championships at a canter with a thirty-point gap to 2nd place. There were standout individual performances from Olive and Odette (both Hurdles), Isabella (100m), Guliana (200m), Aaria (200m), Oscar (100m), Rupert (Long Jump) and Rafael (800m) as well as the girls 4 x 100m team all securing gold.  

In the National Track and Field cup, 54 students went head-to-head with 12 other schools in the South London Round at Junior Girls, Junior Boys, Intermediate Girls and Intermediate Boys level. An incredible day was had by all as students toughed it out against 11 other schools on both the track and in the field.  In over 100 events, students accumulated points for their times, distances and heights and, after six hours of competition, the Junior Boys, Junior Girls and Intermediate Girls all made it through to the Regional Finals.
