Exciting news for Eltham College geographers this term as the winning student designs for the Geography Department’s Antarctica flag have officially made it to the southernmost continent.
The flag was photographed on board the RRS Sir David Attenborough in the Weddell Sea, held by Petra Ten Hoopen, a scientific data manager and part of the UK Polar Network.
On board the ship are a range of specialists, including ecological modellers, biogeochemists, geoengineers and divers, each playing a vital role in polar science and exploration.
Congratulations to everyone who submitted a design and helped Eltham College fly its flag in one of the most remote parts of the world.
Thank you to the UK Polar Network for making this incredible opportunity possible.
