This week, the whole of Year 7 gathered for the Lecture Competition Finals, where six finalists, each the winner from their respective class, presented on the theme of Travel. Each finalist brought a unique perspective, from Amara’s journey through Bali and Arhaan’s colourful Morocco, to Roberto’s hidden Italian gem, Erchie. Bea explored Goa’s vibrant culture, Felix showcased Yellowstone’s natural wonders, and Elena took a creative turn with the concept of mental time travel.
While judges deliberated, students watched a short video on the purpose of travel and discussed what they’d learned. The judges later shared tips on strong presenting—like maintaining eye contact, speaking clearly, and using body language effectively.
The winners were then announced: Bea in third place, Roberto in second, and Elena taking first prize for her imaginative and original presentation. The event was a celebration of creativity and confidence, showing how travel—real or imagined—can inspire and connect us all.
