In September 2023, Eltham College and its Junior School merged with Blackheath Prep to form the Eltham College Family of Schools.
Every year, Eltham College welcomes around 120 students into Year 7. Approximately half the year group comes from Eltham College Junior School, where pupils move up automatically into the Senior School, without further assessment, if they wish.
The other half of the year group comes from Blackheath Prep and more than 30 other schools across south east London and Kent.
Pupils in Blackheath Prep who wish to join Eltham College at 11+ benefit from a unique priority arrangement. This ‘priority entry’ process is not available to any other feeder school. We understand, of course, that parents may wish to consider a range of senior schools. Students from both our Junior School and Blackheath Prep may, in this case, choose instead to take part in our standard competitive entry process, taking assessments in January of Year 6 alongside applicants from outside the Eltham College Family of Schools. Children moving on to another senior option at 11 will, of course, continue to receive the excellent preparation and support for which Blackheath Prep and our Junior School are known.
