All prospective candidates are encouraged to come and visit us before registering to sit an entrance examination. Please come and visit us at one of our upcoming Open Days.
To apply for a place at the College all prospective candidates must complete the registration form and pay a non-refundable application fee of £195. Acceptance of registration does not constitute an offer of a place.
Once we have accepted your registration we will contact all prospective candidates with details about arrangements for the assessment day. If successful at the assessment day a candidate will be offered a place to study at Eltham College
On accepting a place, parents are required to pay a deposit and sign a contract which outlines the standard terms and conditions under which their child is accepted as a student at Eltham College. Offer of a place is also subject to satisfactory references from the candidate’s current school.
The minimum standard for entry to the Sixth Form is six GCSE subjects at grade 7 although, with the competition for places, the standard is likely to be considerably higher. There are also specific GCSE requirements to study specific A level courses which can be found here: GCSE Requirements To Study A Level Subjects 2025 Entry.
All external candidates for the Sixth Form take an entrance examination, sitting a critical writing paper and a computer adaptive verbal and non-verbal reasoning assessment. After the entrance examination, candidates for whom a place is being considered will be invited back for an interview.
Students already at Eltham College proceed to the Sixth Form without the need for further assessment, but are required to meet the same minimum entry requirement as external students.
Places are allocated shortly after the examination process. Once candidates have accepted an offer from us, they will be invited to an Options Evening where they can meet Heads of Department for advice on selecting subjects to study at A level.
All candidates who sit the entrance examinations are automatically considered for an Academic Scholarship. There are further assessments for those children who pass the academic threshold and who wish to be considered for a Music, Sport, Art, Chess and Drama Scholarship.
As well as, Academic, Sport, Music, Art, Chess and Drama Scholarships at 16+ entry, we offer means-tested financial bursaries for families who may not be able to afford the fees. Visit the Scholarship and Bursaries section for more information.
