Melina Irawo joined the Black History Month celebrations and spoke powerfully about her journey to Powerlifting and the serendipity in which she found the sport.
In a merged talk hosted by with the Afro-Caribbean Society, High Performance Athlete Programme and Feminist Society we were reminded that we are all complex beings with interests and abilities more broad than our assumptions.
This Black History Month has been a re-focus on Black British History and Black British stories because Black British History is being made right now… We can find our talents in the most unlikely of ways! And we certainly will cheer Melina on in all that she does! Next stop World Champions!
