On Sunday, our Chess team travelled to Eton to participate in the National Schools Rapid Play competition. This high-intensity event posed a unique challenge to our students, as each of them was limited to a mere 20 minutes on the clock. The constant ticking of the clock added an extra layer of excitement and complexity to the game.
The squad, consisting of Florian, Gaurav, James, Cyrus, Theo, and Roxolana, showcased their strategic skills and determination throughout the competition and emerged victorious in 3 out of 5 matches. This remarkable achievement led them to a joint 8th place finish, an impressive feat in a fiercely competitive field comprising over 50 teams.
