Eltham College Participates in Park Run to Commemorate Eric Liddell

On Saturday 13th July around twenty members of the broader Eltham College community participated in the Park Run at Sutcliffe Park to commemorate the centenary of Eric Liddell winning gold in the four hundred metres at the Paris Olympics in 1924.

For those who don’t know, park runs are 5km runs that take place on Saturday mornings through local parks, that are open to all; former staff member and keen park runner Elaine Galloway (physics, 1988-2011) thought it would be nice if we encouraged runners to attend this event, which is the closest (in terms of date) to Eric Liddell’s victory and is also the closest park run (in terms of geography) to Eltham College.

Participants comprised former and current pupils, staff and parents, with leavers from all eras from the 1970s to 2023 represented; current staff members who took part were Mr Burling and Mr Cavendish from the Senior School and Mr Oliver from the Junior School. A number of participants posed for a pre-run photo before heading off for the run’s start point.
